Miryenda- Chocolate cake

My fist post for the month of love, "chocolate cake". As my usual baking activity with my daughter, one afternoon we baked chocolate cake for our miryenda and we shared it with Bibingclara's favorite playmate theophile together with his mother. I am not good in baking chocolate cake ( di ko master ) so to make things not to complicated, buying a box of chocolate cake mix in the supermarket is easier than to experiment my own. As it shows on the photo, our cake mixture overflowed, i didn't pay so much attention with the size of the baking pan we used. So when its done, that was the result :)

Because it's ready cake mix, we just followed the instruction on the package. And here what my assistant did on baking :)

pouring liquid cream

mix together then pour in the chocolate mixture on the baking pan

powder with icing sugar then bake :)

voilà le gateau au chocolat ( i inverted it and we used the remaing icing sugar when we served it )

We had these yummy sweets with a cup of tea. It was a nice talk and afternoon break :)

3 chardons- spectacles and books for kids

My first time to watch spectacle in 3 chardons. I googled what chardon means, and the answer according to mr. google is thistle. Thistle is a flowering plant akala ko ba naman ay Uling-charbon hahaha please excuse me nag-aala kenkoy at nagpapatawa lang ako :). Kasi naman ang maging blogger ay di biro lalo na kapag isinasalin ang isang salita sa isa pang lengwahe. Nakakaloka! Anyway, all i can say about the spectacle is very, very good!. So, after we had watched the dragon dance in chinese quarter, we headed to 3 chardons ( la cachette ). We arrived in a place one hour in advance for the next seance at 4pm. Waiting was ok because they have wide waiting area where we can sit and relax after a tiring walk na buhat si Bibingclara :)

Dragon dance parade

We've seen a little the dragon dance parade in the chinatown yesterday. We're suppostedly watch a spectacle near place but unfortunately the parade already started so we cannot cross the road, some streets are close, no buses, and the streets are packed with people who are watching the yearly parade as a celebration of a chinese new year. we missed the seance of 2pm so no choice, we waited the parade to be done! I get myself a chance to take some photos while in waiting, but really sorry i didn't took the best shots ( feeling pro hehehe ) i just clicked there and clicked here whateverrrr sobrang dameng tao kaya puro ulo ang nasa picture ko hehehe :)

After the parade, we headed to the theatre to watch the spectacle as we promised to our unica hija. We walked along the chinese area. Actually, we entered in the chinese temple pa nga hoping na they have exit to cross going to the other side. We continued and on our way, we saw a chinese boutique ( o pharmacie ) selling herbal medecine. I remember, i watched it on a tv ( same boutique ) featuring how they compose herbal remedies :) Up next, spectacle in la cachette :)

Disaster - Betty boop slippers

Three days ago, i turned our washing machine and washed all pairs of my betty boop bedroom slippers. I didn't exactly know what mades me think to wash them all ( wala lang type ko lang ) i just wish na hindi medyo halatang nag-hahanap na ng kapalit. The result?

Some pairs broken into pieces ( only 4 pairs left but needs operation lol must do stitching ). I must accept that i do not use our machine so often that's why when i did it, i forgot to do the good setting. Nag-crack ang mga suwelas, lumabas ang mga foam at nagbitak-bitak! they're broken talaga. Nasira ko dahil sira talaga ako. Masyado atang nainitan at nasobrahan ng ikot imagine, 3 oras bago natapos. Tsk..tsk my reaction? medyo natatawa at nalulungkot pero ok lang kasi nung nalaman ni Bibingclara, she said " Mama, don't you worry i will buy you a new one " - ang mabuting anak na naki-simpatya. Ang reaction ni Claudebiko? hmm " you have so many na, no buy stop gastos "- ang nagsasawang bumili ng paulit-ulit at nagtitipid hahaha. Pero good thing ang pinaka-oldest sa lahat na si Old betty ay nakasalba. She's still alive at pumuti pa ng konti ( gosh buti nalang di ako naglagay ng clorox tablet kundi lalong patay! ) anyway, anyway, ika nga nila "habang me buhay, me pag-asa" so para menos gastos, itong mga natirang patches ni Betty boop ay ididikit ko nalang sa mga plain slippers using UHU liquid glue. Peace Betty! :)

Sticking and pasting

Some time you can get good buys over the internet just like the sticking paste and some liquid glue bought all from UHU. We bought them over vente-privee.com. It is not our first time to purchase at vente-privée, from there we also bought our Virgin sim cards and Go Sport discounted gift certificate. You can even buy a package travel when there's a good deal :)

Those are very useful! In school or in creating some activity at home. In repairing some broken objects as well. Some of the tubes can be very useful on sticking woods, ceramics and even on textile. Oh i've got also an idea of using UHU glue to give another life to my broded betty boops that i recuperate from broken slippers. Next post, coming up :)

Today's activity : glueing

Wednesday - no school! no baking session today but we made our day a productible one. We played a lot and had long bath together. This aftenoon after usual nap, we made our glueing activity. We actually planned to use Bibingclara's mini sewing machine, ( that she got as a christmas present from Claudebiko ) but we had no success ( the textile is too thick ) so the ending we used our UHU glue to stick our 3 bears on a piece of fabric. I cutted the bear's heads from the old gap leggings that Bibingclara doesn't use anymore. And sticking bears influenced by the fairy tale "boucle d'or et les trois ours", - goldilocks and the three bears ( i hope i have got a good translation ) which i red to Bibingclara last night before she sleeps. She likes the story and she interpreted bears as PAPA - the big bear MAMa - medium bear ( parang baligtad ako ata yung big bear and CLARA - as little bear :)

it was Bibingclara who put her name down the small bear na master na nya ang pagsulat ng kanyang name. she also drew some on a paper :)

Oh my daster! ( the beginning of wearing a dress )

My daughter is in a robe-mood nowadays. Robe is dress in french. I don't know what kind of food she ate for asking me each time to clothe her with dress not only in school but at home too. Normally, i put her on a dress kapag summer pero ngayon kapag binihisan mo ng bestida abay ayaw ng hubarin hanggang sa pagtulog hehehe bilhan ko kaya ito ng daster na pantulog? :)

When she wear dress in school she has long sleeve t-shirt as inner and leggings ( ang lamig kaya ) because maybe a cause of her girly-girly thing eh baka lamigin at magkasakit pa sya. I understand, she's now growing and she starts to appreciate na ang maging prinses-prinsesan. For the meantime, dahil wala syang masyadong light dress na pambahay ( wala pa namang divisoria dito hehehe ) magtiyaga muna sya sa robe-roban nyang malalaki at mahahabang t-shirt hahaha. Will buy you some nice light dresses anak o di kaya mga sleep tees okie! :)

Siomai

Siomai or shumai - this one is my pork siomai version that i've learned from a cousin. Pahabol sa chinese new year! aside from missing "tikoy",- a glutinous rice cake very popular during chinese new year, i also missing eating siomai. Of course, i prefer not buying frozen one from asian's store i make my own but next time i'll improve my siomai wrapper must try to get a better rice wrapper :)

I used wonton wrapper last time. Like i said, i must get a better wrapper ( another kind ) for my siomai maybe this coming sunday after seeing the dragon dance in Chinatown here in Paris. I must not forget also buying chili garlic sauce as well for dipping. I am itching to use my new steel steamer that has been bought in Ikéa (",)

Salad galore

During summer making just a simple salad becomes so practical. No cooking, not so many mess in the kitchen and lastly not to much dirty dishes to wash after hahaha. Last summer, eating salad becomes everyday for us :)

Not just only from the internet i checked recipe to try out. I also have some references from food magazines :)

Toss with olive oil or citrusy sauce. Solve! Next week, even if it's not summer yet menu will be salad 'y. Will play with the variations maybe adding beets can be cool. Hmm..yummy 'yiiii

Pont-Aven

Some pasalubong bought from Pont-Aven. Dinayo talaga! halos isang oras ang biyahe by car mula sa aming village na pinag-bakasyunan. Sulit ang food trip dito. Nagpasyal-pasyal pa bago kame umuwi at bumili rin ng ilang pasalubong na dito lang matatagpuan :)

Food trip 3 ( Bretagne )

I am still in our food trip! i am already full by seeing all those photos on my recent post but still would like to share our worst dining experience. I already forgot where it was. What i remember, it was after our quick boating tour with friends. It was already late lunch and we were so hungry. The plan was to eat sushi in a japanese fast food ( i was starving for tuna in real ) but unfortunately it was already closed when we arrived. No other choice, so everybody decided just to eat around :(

Food trip 2 ( Bretagne )

This is the best food trip we ever have in Brittany. It was in Pont-Aven. Claudebiko recommends this restaurant while they're on a stop after boating with friends. The restaurant name is "Le Moulin de Grand Poulguin". Hubby really itching to bring us here, as he tried their Pizza and Big serving of Pasta. Really worth visiting this village, ( lots of artist's gallery ) after a long walk then just go straight have a good food here :)

Finally, we commanded our orders. It was lunch time and all was packed. First thing we had as i remember...

Yeah i know i am on a diet but hey, permits me satisfying myself by looking back those pictures. Our first dining experience in Brittany, Crêpessssss :) crêpes are everywhere in the restaurant mapa-salted o mapa-sugared. We enjoyed salted crêpes first al fresco while watching a little concert, Reggae Music just in front of the restaurant :)

Sounds like instant noodles ( lucky me- a noodle brandname in the philippines ) hehehe yep! i like noodles but when you are lucky, like me you can afford to buy something more than noodles :)

Of course, we were on vacay that time in Brittany so ang hinahanap-hanap ay Oyster yep i was buying Oysters :)

Because i am in a japanese mood, hehehe let me share you some of our past dining experience! gosh i am on a diet and i am salivating right know for brochettes! This was actually our first dining experience in Japonika after our food shopping in Amasia ( just beside the restaurant ) :)

I made another galette for our miryenda. As my daughter's request, she wants another trinket-fève in our galette. I am wishing to have betty boop fève for a next time. I've got no chance of buying it directly in the store but i could purchase thru internet well, maybe betty boop trinket will be for next year? :)

same recipe of king cake's i made from marmiton recipe. i forgot to mention last time, make a pierce in the middle to let air pass while cooking. Dont forget to make your own design using the tip of knife :)

Rosary prayer

Like last year, after Sinulog, ate yolly's welcoming Sto. Nino once again. As a practice, we prayed the holy rosary together yesterday :)

The dinner after Sto. Nino feast was set in Elysées bonheur restaurant ( asian restaurant ) at Champs-Elysées. I am not one of the member of the association, i am only a guest. I came alone ( no hubby and child ) to participate in this event and of course since the majority of my friends were here, ( some of them are members of the said association ) i have to support them hahaha joke! It was actually a big pleasure attending this kind of event and how i wish i could attend a real " Sinulog" in Cebu or maybe in Aklan ( Ati-atihan next time ( i just only seen on tv ) this event is actually special. Really special! so nice watching the street dance na talagang long time ang preparation. Now, let's go to lafangan :)

there were 4 round cakes ( vanilla and choco chiffon cake ) the cakes were also dedicated for everybody's who got celebrated their birthdays on december and january. I am IN! i am decemberian hehehe

Sto. Nino Sinulog 2012

I attended the celebration of Sto. Nino feast last sunday January 15, 2012. The mass was held in Bernadette church ( my first time attended mass in this church ). We arrived ( with my friends who invited me ) earlier and as their preparing the table for Sto. Nino's, i get the chance to take some photos before the mass starts :)

I danced with my little Sto.nino and i also get a chance to have a quick photo seance with mananayaws ( they're my friends ) in a last minute. This was actually in the end. Wedding Anniversary

Our 6th year wedding anniversary last friday naku parang kelan lang. I am looking back our photos then i saw a picture of our wedding bands. We purchased our wedding ring in one of the jewelry store in Robinson's place Manila. We both decided to chose white gold with a diamond in the middle. Very simple! and yet not so expensive very swak in our budget hehehe :)

In lieu of our marriage life, yeah sometimes there were some ups and downs but we still find to manage it. All the differences, ( not to mention the age hihihi ) conflicts ( language barrier ) and etc.. good thing hayyy as a couple, we still find a solution handling it. Anyways, i am glad to say that i am lucky and very much happy to have a good husband and a loving one like Claudebiko. Plus, having an adorable child like Bibingclara naku wala ng hahanapin pa. Our life is complete! to have a little and simple celebration, our dinner on friday night was in our favorite italian restaurant. So we headed in the Pizza d'italia together with our coupon ( free kir ) that hubby get printed :)

Italian grated cheese

Found new product in the supermarket. I never hesitated buying three packs of those grated cheeses ( italian brand ) as i have all the idea and utility in my head. They were unexpensive almost the same price of a normal grated cheese i use to purchase :)

I noticed that both has a little defect on the eye ( parang walang itim ) well, it's just nothing. Both betty magnets are now displaying on the fridge and i'll gladly tell yah i really appreciate them! bow :)

The much awaited has now come! Hubby is so very happy with his free mobile. His sim card actually arrived last saturday :)

With the interesting fee that only free can offer, sooner i will be also under Free ( without changing my number of course ) with the new free subscription i'll be choosing, All unlimited! CALL,MMS,SMS,INTERNET ( oh gosh i must change my mobile to Smart phone hehehe ) What you will ask for? Wala na, wala na kundi ang palitan ang aking phone into new one! hohoho. I am so thrill! Aside from big coat, i have another essential things during winter. Ang aking winter bag na mala-channel look hahaha and mabalahibong boots grrrr...so cold even at home parang gusto kong laging umidlip ( katabi ni Mia ) at magkumot ng makapal. Kaso, dumating ang problema hehehe ang aking mumung bag ay nasira ang zipper ( mura lang kasi ) at ang kabibili ko lang na bota abay, mukhang mag-gu-goodbye na din! baket? kasi pinapasukan ng tubig sa loob kaya ang paa ko ay nilalamig at naninigas. Ang SOLUSYON? abay bumili ng bago habang SALEEE oo winter sale ngayon nung nakaraang wednesday pa January 11, actually nakapag-sale na ako kaso lang wala pa rin akong natitipuhan na kapalit ng aking nasirang bag at nababasang boots :)

I have been very, very busy these past few weeks. Ano nga ba ang pinagka-busyhan? Kinareer ko ang aking balikbayan boxes. At last, natapos ko din ang aking Balikbayan boxes. They actually delivered my box late, pero nakahabol sa pick up date. Imagine, in ten days tapos silang lahat. I hope my boxes will arrive on time unlike last time na almost umabot ng 2 months mahigit bago nila natanggap sa pinas. Anyway, the agent assured me naman na the boxes will arrive on time this time ( 45 days ) dati kasi nagkaroon daw ng konting problema. Anyways, bago pa man nakaalis ang aming balikbayan boxes ay hinayaan ko munang upuan ni Bibingclara ito at magpa-picture hehehe

Ano nga bang laman ng mga box? ang laman nito ay mga abubot hehehe, mga munting regalo na hindi nakahabol nung pasko. Ang usual na bilin ng aking mga kapatid at kung anu-ano pa. Buti nalang hindi masyadong mabigat ang laman ng aking mga box tamang-tama lang. Maganda ang pagkaka-impake ( thanks to my packing man Claudebiko ) Sealed ito with love hehehe. French King Cake

I posted last year that i'll be making our own king's cake on the day of Epiphany. I made my simplest but delicious king cake yesterday with the little help of my daughter. You can see them all selling in the boulangerie/bakery during the season. The prices ranges from 3 euros ( good for one ) to 25 euros ( i guess the biggest size ). I know it is easy to buy but it's so fun making our own galette together with my makulit unica hija. She was so really excited and we had fun! fun! fun! talaga :)

Ingredients : 2 rolls of pâte feuilletée ( ready made pastry dough )
one egg plus - one egg yolk ( for brushing )
50g. butter ( soft )
75g. sugar
some drops of bitter almond ( almond amère )
100g. almond powder ( i bought Vahiné mark with free crown and trinket )
I have got the recipe from Marmiton, i had reposted the ingredients here for non-french speaker na tulad nalang ng mga nakakabasa nitong mga filipino :)

just mix all the ingredients in a bowl

lay down the 1 pastry dough

scatter the mixture and put the trinket

i planted it para hindi halata ( sino kaya ang makakakuha nito at magiging princess o reyna o hari hehehe )
take note ang trinket isn't edible so mag-ingat baka malunok hehehe

cover with the second pastry dough ( i shape mine with the size of a normal plate kasi hindi kasya sa oven namen if it's super big.

prepare the brushing part using egg yolks na diluted with little water

isara ang edges ( tiklupin whatever design you may like ) pedeng gumamit ng tinidor

using the tip of knife pede ding mag design or guhit-guhitan

i let Bibingclara to make her final job

brushing it while singing ( she actually had video on it posted on facebook )

oven it at 210°C for 25 minutes

i baked mine for exactly 25 minutes mukhang sunog pero hindi just the brushing talagang golden na golden hahaha

Been very, very busy. Tapos na ang holiday at hindi ko na inintay na mag 3-Kings para ligpitin at itago ang aking mga december decotion katulad nalang ng christmas tree na talagang dry na at itinapon na sa imbakan the next day pagkatapos ng pasko. Go na ang aking mga mini cutey christmas deco sa basement :)

My birthday

The day of my birthday is 28th of december -niño's day kung tawagin. That day, no celebration just an ordinary day pero i made a cake for me that morning para naman meron akong ibo-blow hehehe. Look my inosente at akala mo sya ang me birthday! :)

I am very happy to see a video of my family singing a birthday song for me on Claudebiko's facebook account. In fact, they bought a cake so naki-birthday din sila sa akin. Thanks to my sister for the surprise nagulat talaga ako kasi i heard it from far ( si Claudebiko ang unang nag check ) habang ako ay gumagawa ng aking cake sa kitchen :)

Christmas gifts

Hep! hep! hooray! as i mentioned, na i will post all the gifts that we have received so eto na sila. From exchange gifts sa aming christmas party hanggang nung kame ay nag-noche buena abay ang mga gifts are still coming :)

ang na-gets namin sa tatlong exchange gifts na nilahok lahat ay ilalagay sa kitchen ( happy kitchen ) notice na ang isang regalo ay di pa nabubuksan dahil talagang ni-request pa na ito ay buksan ng alas dose hehehe duon kela mama goods :)

ang nabuksan na gift ay ang frame na "family" tas yehey nakatanggap ako ng cake tray na ka partner nung glass sweet box above, pika-pika tray, candles, shower gel at pabango :). Syempre kung happy ang adults, mas lalong happy ang mga bata kinabukasan tulad nalang ni Bibingclara na nagbukas ng kanyang mga regalo the next day :)

Yeah, wala akong regalo kundi ang dalawang malaking medyas na talagang pinuno ko ng mga kendi at tsokolate. Naalala ko nung bata ako, ganyan din ang ginagawa ng aming ama ( medyo sosyal nga lang ang medyas ko hehehe ) dun sa may sapatusan nilalagay nya sa lumang medyas yung mga surprise na kendi na binibili nya at pinaniniwala kame na galing iyon ke santa claus. Ang style ni Papa papatulugin kame ng maaga tapos iyon ang aming hahalungkatin kinaumagahan at sinasabing ito ay bigay ni Santa hehehe cute noh naalala ko nun kahit simpleng kendi at mumurahin lang patok na sa aming magkakapatid. Ang sarap maging bata at minsan lang maging bata. Ang pasko ay bigayan at ito ay talagang hit sa mga bata. In my case, talagang sinadya kong wag regaluhan si Bibingclara ( nagtipid daw ) kasi naman bukod sa mga damit na regalong bigay ng mga tita nya ang dame nya nang mga laruan at nangungunsumi akong magligpit ang dame at ang kalaatttt :)

Last minute bonding with friends

Our first time! Bibingclara and i spent overnight to a friend's place. The place is in the suburb and the travel from RER was long. It has been ages since my friend wanting me to come to her appartement and now it has been granted. We get the chance to make chika to the fullest while the chikitings were so busy playing. The next morning, we woke up late ( i didn't sleep well because of my cough ) and here's what waiting in the kitchen :)

At last, nakapag-post din ako ng entry. After ng sobrang kabusy-busyhan ko nitong holiday, pahintulutan nyo akong i-post ( actually late na nga eh ) itong aming naging christmas party nuong dec. 19 pa hehehe excuse me :)

Christmas tree is up and of course, as usual we get our medium size christmas tree from Ikéa. We payed our christmas tree for 20 euros and the day we purchased it, they gave us ( right away ) a gift card that valued 19 euros. That means we only payed a euro for the christmas tree that we have got. In return of that, we must return used christmas tree ( after the holiday ) in a designated places. I like what Ikéa do each year. They sell christmas tree for nothing ( though it is a marketing strategy ) by that way, people encourage to participate into recycling ( as a part of the campaign ) and that's very good :)

Super excited Bibingclara! She's helping me decorating our home for the upcoming christmas party.
Christmas is near! It is already christmas in our house. What is fun of having christmas tree is, decorating it with a kid and whats more exciting is to see gifts around it. Speaking of gifts, i am not still making my wish list. I dont think i'll be making one. I am not wishing for any material thing this year. Not any :)

Cheese sticks

Ang instant mirienda na super daling gawin. Na-miss ko ito nung nasa pinas pa ako ito ang usual mirienda nung nasa Grace village pa kame sa Quezon City. Napakadaling gawin pero nung nasa pinas pa ako mas madaling bumili kesa mag deep fry nito hehehe

you will need:
lumpia wrappers ( about 20-25 pieces )
half of red bell pepper cut into sticks
1 box of cheddar cheese cut into sticks
cooking oil

lay the lumpia wrapper get a stick of cheese, a stick of bell pepper then roll and fold it to seal then deep fry into very hot cooking oil.

voilà les cheese sticks
Drain, place on a plate ( use paper towel to remove excess oil ). Dip in a ketchup or Mayo-ketchup combi dipping. Enjoy! I want BEER!!!! lol

Chocolate charlotte

The real Charlotte is here! Bibingclara likes to contribute in the kitchen so during baking time, i let her doing her part. Good thing she listened to me very well so i didn't need to get mad ( except she accidentally spill some expresso when dipping ladyfingers ). Baking with childrens together need a lot of patience :). So here's our step by step recipes of Chocolate charlotte :)

250g dark chocolate

30 pcs lady fingers ( biscuits )

75g butter

5 eggs ( separated egg yolks )

30g white sugar

1 cup expresso

a pinch of salt

separating egg whites

beating eggs

taste test

dipping lady fingers
Directions :
1. Water-bath 200g of cracked chocolates ( keep the rest for decoration ) with butter. Mix until completely soften and melted.
2. Beat the egg yolks with sugar. Add the melted chocolates and mix well. In another bowl, add the salt to the eggs whites and beat until stiff. Mix delicately the two mixtures together.
3.Slightly dip each lady fingers on expresso and arrange them in a round mold - spring form pan ( i used small one ) Pour in the mixture in the middle.

we made 3 batches of this

4. Place it in the refrigerator for couple of hours. Unmold and transfer into small plate. Before serving, decorate it with remaining chocolate chips on top :)

Charlotte marmotte

Meet the new friend marmotte ( in french ) or marmot - ground hog of america. Charlotte the marmot! Cutey noh? it is actually one of a stuff toy of Léo when he was a little boy. We found it in one of the boxes stocking up in the basement while we were cleaning. Claudebiko still keeping some old stuff of his son and so when we see Charlotte, we bring it up to show to our daughter :)

and yes there's another one that we called "adopted bear"

The lonely bear was founded sitting on the trash bin down the building the same day. I get it then i washed it in the washing machine :). The neat and happy bear is now a member of the gang hehehe

Old time friends get together

We had our get together before the departure of an old time american friend. We had dinner at home. I do not prepared loads of food that will actually make myself stuck in the kitchen. Everyone has its own contribution Jim ( an american friend ) do the salad, Claudebiko mixed the drinks and i cooked the non-dying pansit/nouilles philippines ( that they really love and requested ) and i prepared crème brulée as dessert :)

Atlas, i made my first crème brulée using the recipe of crème brulée book that Claudebiko has offered me last year as a birthday present. The only problem, my torch doesn't work. Never mind, the crème brulée doesn't burn though it becomes cream with fruits nalang at hindi brulé nyak! pero ganun pa man masarap. Appetizing! :)

Attractive plants

I have to learn taking care of plants! yes, i admit i am not into plants at all, but sometimes i can appreciate their beauty in any way or form. One afternoon, while walking in a small street in Brittany i found a strange plant that really attracts me. Can't help but took some photo. It was actually a type of plants climbing on the wall. I love its color! i would love touching it but because i do not know this plant much, i didn't do it.

i call it the red climber hehehe ( i have to search and ask mr google for its name )

It is also nice to have interior plants at home but the problem i always forget to water them ( namamatay sila in the end ) before somebody offer me orchides ( namatay din ). Remember, the plants need care and attention hehehe ( kulang sila ng pansin sa akin )

Second time visit in City of sciences's, just mama and Bibingclara. Our visit was set on school break so there were lots of children. Queue everywhere! but everything had finished well and as usual my girl enjoyed her playtime moments :)

Our first visit in Museum of Science and Industry. The same day, we decided to get a family card. With a subscription and as a member we can go see some exposition without fee ( cool ) though need a reservation in advance. Of course, as we have a card, we can come back as often as we want. The goal? to play and see things in a maximum way :)

Our plan to spend our Christmas holiday in london will not go through because i haven't still had the response on my nationality application. I must wait till i've got my papers so i could go to Uk without visa.

As we really only have tight budget for this trip, we are avoiding to pay for a visa because if we'll counting, the visa fee is much as for a price of plane ticket going there, plus we must rent a car ( i guess ). So for us, london isn't for now maybe next year? i hope! for the moment, Xmas in Paris! :)

Life at home

My unica hija is still sick. Imagine, we went to the doctor thrice and the last finding was a sore throat. We get so stressed when she get sick. Worries all the time :(. She's under antibiotic and taking some syrup. We are very eager for the good result of her medication so that everything will get back into normal . Hoping she could go school as well on monday as we noticed that she really gets bored and tired being sick. Bibingclara is a type of kid who's very active and lively! She never stops doing things even at home. She would do things intelligently while playing :)

Lugaw- food for the sick

My Bibingclara is sick since tuesday night :(. I made big batch of lugaw- rice porridge for her but she has really no appetite. She only eat banana as fruit and drinks plenty of water. So the lugaw again will be our dinner tonight :)

Daing at Puto

Daing is a dried fish and this is actually what i missed! i like eating it as breakfast with matching fried rice :) When my friend asked me if i want some daing from her province ( davao ) i said yes quickly! then she offered my 3 pieces. Ubos in one sitting! i fried it and i ate it with kamatis and itlog na maalat :)

Another favorite breakfast is Puto. Puto is a steamed rice cake. I never tried making puto. Making puto on my own is on the list. I actually purchased already some sets of puto molds in 2 different sizes ( small and medium ). Last week, we had 4 pcs. puto that my friend gave us i really would like to get her tita's puto recipe because they were so yummy.

It tastes so buttery with a crumbled texture. I am guessing if they used a combination of corn and rice flour. Very intruiguing but i like how it tasted! I must get the recipe so i can make my puto soon :)

Quiche/Salade

I am making quiche tonight for our dinner and as usual we'll gonna partner it with salad. I also made this yummy quiche when we were in Brittany photo below :)

Andouille sausage

Another laman loob favorite! i like andouille ( anduy ) -mukhang pangalan ng bagyo hehehe! masarap ito lalo na kapag isinawsaw sa suka. Andouille is a porc sausage made of intestines and stomach. Andouille of Brittany is really good and by curiousity i actually requested andouille as toppings on my pizza when we were in a restaurant in Pont-Aven i even tried andouille on my salted crêpe ( will share next time our food trip in Brittany ).

A visit in Natural History Museum

Hindi ako fan ni spider man at hindi rin si spider man ang gumawa ng mga sapot na yan. Nakahiga ako nyan ng kinunan ko ng litrato. Naisip ko lang ang tagal at ang tipid nitong mga sapot na ito dahil taon-taon ginagawa namin itong dekorasyon tuwing halloween party. Nabili namin ito sa isang boutique kung saan nakakabili ng sari-saring mga pang costume at actually merong kulay puti nito na me kasama pang mga gagamba :)

Ang techinique ng pagkabit nito ay dapat hila-hilahin para dumami at matakpan lahat ang buong ceiling tapos lagyan ng clear tape para dumikit. Actually, one time nahulog pa itong si Claudebiko nung kinakabit nya itong mga sapot na ito tsk..tsk.. nasira yung BANGKO! na tinutungtungan nya hehehe buti nalang hindi sya nasaktan ng masyado dahil ang bangko at nabali. Lesson : wag gumamit ng bangko na natutupi dahil ito ay delikado :) well lesson learned dahil bumili na kame ngayon ng hagdanan para wala ng hulugan issue hehehe. Oo nga rin nung kinaumagahan na kinakalas na namin ang mga sapot napanood ko sa TV na ginagawa rin palang tela ang mga sapot ng gagamba ( nilalagyan ng kulay at pinatutuyo in a special way ) at sa mga artist din nilalagyan nila ng design ito at pine-frame! Yesterday, me gagamba issue ulet kasi yung pinuntahan ni Claudebiko at Bibingclara kahapon na musuem ay merong sapot exposition. Will try to post some photos kaso not so good quality bawal daw kasi me flash :( will try posting it next :)

My daughter got a boy friend

Dont get me wrong, you read it well! yep! my daughter got a boyfriend in school. It's the reality kahit na bata palang tayo meron na talaga tayong favorite na kalaro at Bibingclara's age ( 3 years and 4 months old ) her schoolmate Theophile ( american/french ) is her preffered boy playmate. In fact, today i was alone at home because Bibingclara and Claudebiko were out for a while for a date ( hehehe ) they'll meet Théo and his mother for they can go together in a Zoo/Museum. Nice bonding para sa mga kids! One time we will invite them at home they're really nice people. I do not give any meaning naman no malice at nakakatuwa ang dalawang bata. I like Théo, he's really a nice little boy :)

This is not an extension of our halloween party food hehehe well, just because ako ay kulang sa dugo ( binawasan ng mga bampira ) bago pa man kame naghalloween party ay bumili ako ng halos isang kilo ng atay at balunbalunan. Ako lang actually lahat ang kumain nito! na-miss ko sya super! at sa pagkakaalam ko ang pagkain ng atay ay nakakapampadagdag ng dugo bwahaha at syempre boring naman kung atay lang kaya nga sinamahan ko na din ng favorite kong balunbalunan :)

Back to school today! Bibingclara goes to school with her two school activity files. 1- is a compilation of all her paper works like drawings, paints and sticking works 2- is a book of life ( in school ) where there's plenty of photos showing all the activities they do during school days. The book of life has been returning to the students every school vacation so that the students can also relate their activities at home during no school days :)

there's also a little notebook! it serves as correspondance between teacher-parents we can note inside when there's something to be signal about.

Im sure Bibingclara will relate everything that we posted from her book of life. She really likes to talk! she'll probably relating our halloween party, her paintings, her baking session and the guignol spectacle and yeah there's one more, our visit in Cité des sciences. Will post it next time :)

The young eater

Is't obvious o parang hindi? ang aming young eater ay hindi tumataba ( ang nanay lang hehehe ) after our vacation nung august, pagkauwi ng Paris halos sunud-sunod ang aming invitation ( meaning kainan ) hanggang september. Ok, ok this is another late post ( powk! and toink! ) look naka sleeveless na dress pa ang anak ko so that means na ang kainan na ito ay naganap nung summer pa :)

Guignol- a very nice puppet show

We always come and see guignol in park montsouris in 14th arrondissement ( just 15-20 mins by bus from our place ) for a change, we tried to watch in another place quite far from home ( 30-45 mins by metro ). Not to mind the transportation because the guignol show really worth both from two different places :)

The last we saw was the magic pumpkin next time, well come back for another good story titled the adventure of fairy carabosse. Nice to bring kids to see it. So when getting sick to be always in the same place/park, try to watch guignol and you will never regret! and yet its affordable 3.50 euros per head oh san ka pa? i suggest to get the card of 10 passes you can save a bit euro, no queues and the card both works in the two theatre tapos when your card get all stamped me libre ka pang popcorn ayos! go guignol :)

First time experience is always good ika nga nila. So far, all Bibingclara's first experiences are good and enjoyable. She's always on the go! like in school, she want to go early for not getting late. In the gym, she always had the energy to spend for her tumbling mania and in guignol show, she's always present to watch it. We are back to normal routine since the school holiday is done. Back to guignol-puppet show. Guignol world coming up :)

Sopas at Giniling

While reviewing what i have been cooked for the past halloween parties, i noticed that i also cooked the same dish when we were on vacation last summer. Two dishes like sopas ( chicken soup ) and giniling ( ground pork ). I know that it needs a good broth when cooking sopas ( like what i put in my sopas last night ) but since we were in a vacation i do not really wanted to complicate my whole life in the kitchen. I do the simpliest and easiest sopas that my daughter could have on the table ( she likes any shaped pastas on it ) and i might say recycle giniling? hehehe for my ever dearest hubby :)

Halloween party food

Nakagawian na namen ang magtagpo-tagpo tuwing mag u-undas. So sa araw ng pagtitipon naming mga magkakaibigan siyempre di mawawala ang pagkain. Bawat isa ay may dalang ambag at kapag pinagsama-sama abay buffet! and because sa amin lagi ang venue i always cook and prepare something for them so kagabi we had sopas :)

natakot walang kumain just for the sake of photo ( got the idea from the recipe magazine )
I also prepared salmon and tuna rillettes canapé, tapenade, garlic shrimps, green salad, japanese barbeque. We also had chicken hot wings, meatballs and pork dish with banana blossoms now lets come to dessert.

i made my everlasting cheesecake with jelly red currant for the eyes, nose and mouth

i do not baked it water bath so i expected that my cake will gonna crack. i like the effect parang minasacre and face. Botox? hehehe ( injection pens bought in Cité des sciences :))

aside from cheesecake that i made, we also had banana-chocolate cake that Cléo baked. Mandarin oranges and grapes on the table as fruits. Not so many sweets though we enjoyed every slices of the cakes we had with a bottle of champagne from Ella.

It was a blast halloween party last night. Everybody enjoyed! As usual thing, we do sing, dance and play games. As we planned to be all in red, almost everybody came with their demoniac look. Some put their own make up but some has none at all. Having wearing a simple but scary mask can do something though :)

Vietnamese food love affair

I love vietnamese food and it was actually the reason why i am so inspired in cooking like today for our dinner i will be serving soup à la vietnamienne! Each time i meet my vietnamese friend Giang, we always go for a soup in the vietnamese restaurant oh i would love to experience the soup in vietnam! hope soon kaso ang mahal ng pamasahe! calling aunt issaaa woohooo lol :). One night, we have another vietnamese friend Diem, she was actually fed up of eating european food during her europe tour so what i did is, i brought her to the chinese area where all the vietnamese restaurants are everywhere. She experienced her vietnamese soup for the first time in PARIS :)

It was not actually our first experience, in real we eat vietnamese food each time when we were in lakwatsahan. We also eat soup in Elysées-bonheur in Champs-Elysées and knowing that the owner is from Ho chi minh ville so diem chatted a little with the owner in their dialect :)

Yesterday, i baked a cheesecake and made my last minute gift shopping hehehe :)

Yesterday night, Claudebiko blew his candles over the cheesecake that i had baked :)

Yeah, today is Claudebiko's day! nothing so special i just bake a batch of cheesecake for he can blow his candle tonight hehehe and of course we have a little surprise, i hope he'll not cry hehehe well, actually yesterday, we also attended a birthday party that's why it was like a double celebration. Mama pat's bday and Claudebiko's bday pinagsalo and take note bongga! merong lechon yum! yum! so here's the photo ng aming mga nilafang! :)

Oct. 2 - the chef's bday! LEO. We just greeted him a happy birthday that day and Bibingclara sang a bday song with her guitar that we posted on facebook for her kuya léo :). Soon, Leo will be a propriétaire of a restaurant. Wishing all the best for him as our birthday wishes and he may continue all his projects with lots of luck and courage. Would like to share the foods that he cooks during our vacation in Brittany :)

No picture of bday celebrator sorry again. The snack was held at Ate yolly's residence ( elodie's mom ) kung saan dito ako sinurprise ng aking mga kaibigan nung bday ko last year. Late celebration na ito dahil nga sa dame ng okasyon at alanganin ang araw. Ito ay nung 1st Oct. sabado humabol nalang si Claudebiko dahil nanggaling pa sya ng airport hinatid ang kanyang sister pauwing brazil :) Next post, ang nag bday nung Oct. 2 hehe :)

Yes, you hear it well! Nag birthday ang aking friend na si Cléo - the chocolate cake queen at hindi ako nakapag bake man lang ng kahit na anong matamis para sa kanyang birthday celebration dahil sa wala talaga akong time at super dooper busy. Ang kanyang birthday celebration ay ginanap sa isang chinese restaurant ( buffet ). I am so sorry to say, na wala din akong picture ng mga pagkain at nung nag bday sa kadahilanang, ang aking camera ay hiniram ng aming vietnamese tourist nung araw na yun so pansamantala iiwanan ko muna kayo ng mga matatamis na cakes from the queens hehehe :)

Actually, walang masyadong dessert dun sa buffet bukod sa fruit salad ( in can ), grapes ( as fruit ) at doughnut ( asian style )- hindi ko sila type pero tinikman ko silang lahat hehe buti nalang gumawa si mama gud's ng dalawang klaseng cake - chocolate cake at custard cake at ito ang hinipan ng birthday celebrant :)

My first post this month of October youpiii! I was so very busy last month ( September ) pagkatapos ng aming bakasyon ( August ) ay naku sunod-sunod ang gathering. Kainan kaliwa't-kanan! Imbitasyon ng mga kaibigan, dumating ang sister in law from brazil at itong last week ay meron akong iginuide na tourist :) busy as a bee talaga! At hindi pa nagtatapos ang lahat ng yan, sa katunayan me extension pa hehehe dahil itong month na ito naku ang dameng mag be-berthday! ( isali na ang lahat ng mga mahal kong kapatid ( 4 ) na lahat ay Octoberian ) Actually this is my favorite month dame talaga okasyon magbe-birthday din si Claudebiko, ang aking pamangkin na si Aprilyn, ang aking kumare na si Ethel at ang aking mahal at favorite na tita Issa na nasa Vietnam! :) Teka unahin ko muna yung nag birthday ng September ang aking mahal na ama na nag birthday nung Sept. 26, 2011. That day, i was in Notre-dame church kasama yung aking tinu-tour na si DIEM - ang vietnamese friend ng aking tita issa :) Wala kameng car ng halos 10 days kasi dinala at ginamit ng aking sister in law sa probinsya para bisitahin ang aking biyenan so hindi ma i-tour at hindi nasundo at naihatid dahil walang sasakyan ang ending ay tour by boat, metro-bus transportation at lakaran to the max :)

after boating naglakad-lakad sa Latin quarter papuntang Notre dame church to say a little prayer/bday wish for my papa. From the old bookstore along the street that sells cards/postcards and souvenir items, abay nakakita ako ng Betty boop coasters syempre binili ko ito at pinicturan with diem :) Bago kame pumunta sa Champs-Elysées ikinain ko muna ng ice cream ang aking papa. Take note ice cream ito ni Berthillon :)

wow sun set sa Arc de triomphe ginabi na kame sa kakalakwatsa nagpa picture kame actually sa isang professional chinese photographer kaso yung camera ko ata ang me depekto di bale medyo payat naman ako sa picture kaya ok lang hihihi nagpektyur-pektyur kame bago suyurin ang mga luxury boutiques at dito na rin kame nag dinner sa isang chinese restaurant, sa Elysée bonheur :)

ang souvenir ni diem : vietnam bill, calling card, at ang nakita kong card na kapangalan nya na kanyang binili at sinulatan ng walang humpay na pasasalamat sa aming pag-guide sa kanya during her stay in Paris. 4 days ay bitin! well, hope she'll come back again soon and see you soon diem :)

The one and only betty i saw in Brittany. It was in the house of our host. Our host actually collecting elephants and you can see elephants everywhere in the house. Claudebiko also likes elephants ( his preferred animal ) he has some that he still keeping in his treasure box at home :)

I am happy to announce that today, my Bibingclara is 3 years and 2 months old officially. Aww 2nd wedding anniversary din ng kanyang kuya léo at ate cynthia ngayon ohh what a nice day to celebrate. I would like to share the good progress of my unica hija when it comes to painting. Her first paint at home was month of july using water color but praktis-praktis lang. Claudebiko actually bought her finger paints a week before our summer vacation. This one works good. Bibingclara made some beautiful paint and last wednesday we were surprise because she made a paint for me. yep a paint for me that she called "betty boop" ( photos below )

Yay, hindi ito pre-halloween, ito lang talaga ang interpretation nya bahay daw na me face na it turns out na parang maskara o bungo ( mask o masque -yan ang tawag nya sa bungo o pag nag di-disguise during halloween kasi takot sya dito nuon ) I love her works and the way she choose colors well, syempre nilagyan ko ng date at name ang kanyang paint and we will keep it of course :)

I love being hostess, hehehe pls dont get me wrong coz Bibingclara do the same thing, she likes gatherings and in fact she made her princess cupcakes for the visitors last week and here's how it turns out :)

Crepes

Speaking of crepes, ano nga ba ang pinagkaiba nito sa pancake na nakagisnan ko nuon? yung hotcake ang tawag na nasa box na nabibili sa groceries. Tapos nilalagyan ng maple syrup sa ibabaw o di kaya honey hmm... masarap almusal o miryenda. One day, i found a box of pancake from the supermarket and another box of crêpe mix from another supermarket. Crêpe mix when Claudebiko will gonna prepare some and pancake mix when it's me :)

i also bought a pot of hummus and tarama to spead over mini pancakes i made

So instead of buying ready made blinis - from the supermarket, i used the pancake mix i have in the pantry and served it as our pika-pika on Bibingclara's bday bash :)

River festival

Another festival we assisted when we were in Etel, it's Fête de la rivière/River festival. It was monday afternoon when we went there. It is also the day of Claudebiko's departure to join his friends to go on a boat. I can say that it's the start of mommy-daughter bonding days because Claudebiko's off to navigate quite far from us. First bonding day - FOOD! :)

The little dancer

My daughter is growing. She likes music and she like dancing. She go to school 4 times a week, no school on wednesday. We want that she'll do an activity during no school day but so hard to find extra activities that suits for her age. Maybe dancing or taking an english language lesson for the meantime. Well it will depends what she would want. The decision will always coming from her and we respect that a lot :)

Eto naman ang mga kadahilanan ng aking pagtaas ng timbang wohohoo. Cakes forever! Ang tagal ko ng hindi nagbe-bake ng cakes pero talagang ang tukso ay everywhere hehehe imagine, kada daan ko dito sa bread and cake shop na ito, i can't help but savouring their sweetness by looking from the glass display :) ( timpi kuno )

Today, hindi ko ito nakayanan. I bought cakes at hindi lang isa kundi tatlo ( caramel, raspberry and lemon meringue ) na-enganyo ako sa kanilang disenyo na parang gusto ko lahat silang tikman at bilhin hehehe. Teka, i have to take it easy. Iisa-isahin ko silang tikman. Kaya mga cakes, humanda kayo hehehe :)

I am not blaming you but i get hooked on you. That's one of the reasons why i haven't had done my blog postings ( aside from kabusyhan at katamaran ) kasi tinapos kong basahin ang mga munting kwento ng aklat na ito. Nakakalibang! naisoli at naibalik na sya sa aklatan. Ito ay nahiram ni Claudebiko sa state library. Kada me word na "philippine" naku iuuwi at hihiramin nya yan hehehe. Ang laman nito ay mga kwento na sumariwa sa aking isip dahil merong mga kwento dito na dati ko ng narinig at napakinggan nuong bata pa ako, mga nung elementary times. Nakakatuwa! meron ding alamat ng pinya :)

During our vacation, we had so much fun but though i must admit that there were some blues within me. Not to mention or elaborate about it. I know i am ok and im happy to remenisce our good time when we were there. We enjoyed everything from food and nice places we went to. I also experienced seashell hunting for the first time! that was really fun! fun! fun! :)

We missed the boat that day, a boat that usually cross to bring people from one village to another. Big thanks to Cynthia who finds out somebody ( with a speedboat ) that permits only Claudebiko to cross and get our car. I cannot imagine how much cost a taxi could charge us just for bringing us back. Kaso, walang taxi! we called for a rescue seriously but no replied huh at hindi rin ako marunong lumangoy waaaa finally, we got home safely naman with no more fear hehehe. Thanks to double "C" Cynthia and Claudebiko :)

The last days of our vacation i had a chance to be in the boat with friends. What a coincidence coz while navigating, we crossed a big boat with Philippine name on it. Funny! i get a chance to take some photos with philippine background. I also waved my hand yelling "mabuhay" malay mo meron akong kababayan na seaman hehehe :)

Vacation in Brittany

We spent our summer vacation in Brittany (south ) thanks to old time friends of Claudebiko who has a generous heart to accomodate us in their house located in a little village named "Etel" :)

It was a successful vacation inspite of the weather ( rainy sometimes ) i have got able to see around, my first time in Brittany! and since the house is in the center village, I haven't had any dull moments. The beach is near, carrousel, restaurants, boutiques and market every tuesday just a doorstep :)

We arrived around 5pm after 6hours travelling from Paris ( by car ). We decharged our luggages from the car under the rain but inspite of the grumpy weather, we had managed well our things after. When we finish setting our things and after a quick tour around the house, dinner time!

It was sunday and it's Fête du thon/Tuna feast so everybody went to the tuna feast near the port to have dinner :)

For a menu consisting a portion of grilled tuna ( with sauce à la ételloise ), potatoes ( boiled or fries ), a slice of bread and cheese and quatre-quarts aux pommes ( butter cake with apple ) as dessert we payed 13euros. Is it worth the price? well, what i know is i was so hungry that time and i was contented to have grilled tuna on my plate than tuna in can :)

School year 2011 starts last monday! my little girl now is going in school and on her first day, she was really excited. No problem on waking her up ( a bit earlier then crêche ) she's always on the go and ready to see her teacher and classmates except yesterday that she cried when i left her in the classroom. She wanted that i stay with her :( but all in all everything is doing good so far :)

Bye bye to the crêche where she learned a lot of thing ( will try to post some activities that she did from the crêche ) and hello to école maternelle wherein she will learn more and fullfilled her curiosity. I hope that my daughter will continue her courage being in school and hoping too that she will find lots of good friends :)

Vacation is over! This is my first post of September :) ang bilis! imagine BER na. Malapit na christmas hehehe. I have loads of pending entries that will need to post so will try to make it up these days. Will be food postings coming up and surely will share some souvenir photos from our summer vacation in brittany :)

Fish soup and endives

We are still on vacation! Actually, when we shopped for food i never forget of picking up some bottles of fish soup. I love it and its practical! You just shake and pop up the bottle, pour in the casserole and reheat ( not boiling ) then it's ready. I love to put grated cheese on the top of my fish soup. And when it comes to salad naman, endives! i just slice it into bite sizes add some ham, olive oil, salt and pepper voilà! me salad na :)
